About the instructor:
I began playing the violin when I was four. After studying with many of the best teachers in the Toronto area, and appearing on local TV and radio stations, I went on to study music in the U.S., earning degrees from Indiana University, Northwestern and the Eastman School of Music.
I am greatly indebted to my own teachers, including Mauricio
Fuks, Gerardo Ribeiro, Renee Jolles, and John Fetter.
To understand how wonderful these pedagogues are, look
back one generation, to my teachers' teachers, and you will
find some of the finest violinists of the 20th century,
including: Jascha Heifetz, Ivan Galamian, Oscar Schumsky,
Dorothy Delay, and David Oistrakh.
Since my early college days, I have had a passion for teaching.
During my time at I.U., I was privileged to be part of
Mauricio Fuks' pedagogy training program, both as a student
and a teacher. Since then, I have taught in four cities, with
students ranging from beginner to professional, and from
ages 5 to about 65 (I never asked for an exact age!).
